Dark chocolate truffles with a smooth, peppermint centre. Coated in Cadbury Bournville chocolate and topped with crushed candy canes, they make the perfect gift this Christmas.
Makes 14 truffles
Ingredients
360g Cadbury Bournville chocolate
200ml double cream
30g butter
2 tsp peppermint essence
Crushed peppermint candy canes
Method
- Break up 200g of Bournville chocolate and add into a bowl
- In a saucepan, add the double cream and butter and heat gently until the butter has melted and the cream is simmering
- Remove from the heat and pour over the chocolate
- Stir the chocolate and the cream together until you have a smooth consistency
- Add in the peppermint essence and stir
- Refrigerate for at least 3 hours
- To shape the truffles, scoop a spoonful of the truffle mixture out of the bowl and roll between your palms until round
- Melt the remaining Bournville chocolate in a bowl
- Coat your truffles in a layer of the melted Bournville chocolate and sprinkle with crushed peppermint candy canes
- Refrigerate for another hour until the chocolate has set
